About Us

Who We Are

Obesity is an epidemic that demands both attention and action. The Obesity Association is focused on reducing the prevalence of obesity and improving health in at-risk and affected communities.

Rooted in evidence, and guided by empathy, we advocate for social, medical, and legislative progress while expanding access to treatment for all.

Obesity Advocacy

We are dedicated to confronting the stigma and treatment of obesity by working to foster a world where people affected by obesity have the opportunity to thrive. With our focus on education, action, and evidence-based support, we strive to create a world where everyone, regardless of size, feels valued and supported.

Addressing Obesity as a Disease

The first step in fighting obesity is to treat it like the disease it is.

We work to eliminate the stigma and bias associated with obesity using scientific evidence. We’re also focused on building health equity so anyone living with obesity has access to affordable, holistic, person-centered care.

Advocating for People and Professionals

We champion the needs of both people with obesity and professionals alike at the local, state, and federal levels.

We fight to reduce the prevalence of obesity and improve health outcomes for people with and without diabetes—ensuring patients have access to affordable and equitable care—while empowering professionals with policies that help them effectively address and treat obesity.
